Are you a Member or a Visitor?

Am I a Member or an Attender?
  • Am I active in the business of my homegroup?
  • Am I loyal and dedicated to that group?
  • Do I hold a service position at my group?
  • Have I taken my turn serving as GSR yet at my group (and gotten a peek behind the third Legacy curtains?)
  • When I attend a meeting at my home group, am I there early to help greet and set-up? Do I stay late to help clean up and to welcome the newcomers?
  • Do I take responsibility for my part in financially contributing to my home group?
  • Is my group fully self-supporting through the voluntary contributions of our own members?
  • When I'm attending a meeting at your home group, do I respect the group conscience of your guidelines and format, even if it differs from what my group does?
  • When I'm called on a 12-step call, do I hesitate? Or do I feel privileged and honored to help when no one else can?
  • Do I give back what was so freely given to me? How many people am I currently taking through the steps?
  • Do I attend my Home Group's monthly business meeting regularly and plan my schedule around it making sure I don't miss it?

These are some of the questions I regularly ask myself to make sure that I never become a visitor in Alcoholics Anonymous.
I see a lot of people taking advantage of drive through AA.
I see a lot of people drink. I rarely see a "Member in good Standing" drink.
