When hard work and persistence pays off

When hard work and persistence pays off

I will speak in general terms, but my Home group has taken the necessary actions to stand on principles. And as a result we have recently helped to have made a few small differences.

Using language from A.A. Comes Of Age; I couldn't be more proud to be part of a group of "Recovered Alcoholics in action".

Is it easy standing alone when you are the only one standing? I'll speak for myself, NO! It can be one of the most lonely, difficult and uncomfortable things I've ever had to do.  Sometimes sleepless nights and endless tears in fact.

But what if no one did it?  What if we all just followed suit? What if we just all followed the sheep in front of us staying close to the herd even when the herd is headed for a cliff? The title of Bill Wilson's essay on leadership is very appropriate. A.A. Leadership; Ever a vital need (Concept 9) We need leaders. Every group needs leaders.

The groups are at the top of the triangle. That means we are in charge. We are the ones who are supposed to be responsible for the legacies left to us by our founders, making sure to preserve this precious gift. In my opinion, we have gotten pretty far off track as a fellowship. I feel the reason why is because it is Human Nature to look the other way. This is true for me.  Sacrifice is NOT the easier, softer way.

The Lorax says; “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”
I would like to thank the members of my group for caring. Because it is getting better. It really is
